The One That Got Away

I just finished a story about a man's quest for a new beginning with the proverbial "One that got away." Over the years I've heard many folks mention someone they'd never quite gotten over. Personally, there's no one in my past I'd like to bring to my present, or not romantically anyway. How about you? Do you have a lost love you'd like to reconnect with? What makes this person special? Do they live on in your memories only, or do you occasionally see them?

  1. Congrats on finishing another book!

I used to have one of those, but I'm over it now. It was an unrequited thing with my best friend at the time. He's married now and I'm really happy for him! He's still a pretty special person, just extraordinarily good. But I haven't seen him in a long time and we've lost touch. It's okay though, which I used to wish it would happen, I don't anymore and can appreciate the great friendship we had :)

  2. Awww... Now you have me wanting to write a best friends to lovers story. And I did a sloppy job of writing this post. I didn't write the story in question, I read it; a very lovely little tale called Finding Chandler by Claire Thompson. I fell hard for her "just average guys, not particularly handsome except to each other" protagonists.

    1. ahh, I don't know why I leapt to that conclusion. I love friends to lovers stories. I have that one. I got it for free way back when I started reading m/m but I still haven't read it!

  3. I like short stories to read at work on my thirty minute lunch breaks. It'd take to long to read a novel that way, so I load my Nook with shorts.

  4. Hmm. I really don't have anyone like that in my past, either. :)

  5. That's not a bed thing. I know too many people who're too busy looking back to enjoy the here and now.
